3 miles.  Untimed. Half of it walked.

It was super hot out there today.  I ran right after work and let me just say: I’M NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN (in the summer, at least).

So, feelin’ good is what life is all about right?  I’m not talking about the hedonistic, self serving feeling good.  I’m talking about the working hard, trying new things, learning from mistakes, trying to be a better person feelin’ good.

I didn’t feel so good today and I was thisclose to getting a banana split to make myself feel better.  Instead, at the very last minute, I went for a run.  And you know what?  I feel great!  That got me to thinking about other things that make me feel good and my favorite song in the entire world came to mind.

Jimi Hendrix “Bold As Love”

Anger he smiles tow’ring shiny metallic purple armour.
Queen jealousy, envy waits behind him.
Her fiery green gown sneers at the grassy ground.
Blue are the life giving waters taking for granted,
They quietly understand.

Once happy turquoise armies lay opposite ready,
But wonder why the fight is on.
But they’re all, bold as love.
Yeah, they’re all bold as love.
Yeah, they’re all bold as love.
Just ask the Axis.

My red is so confident he flashes trophies of war
And ribbons of euphoria.
Orange is young, full of daring but very unsteady for the first go ’round.
My yellow in this case is no so mellow.
In fact I’m trying to say it’s frightened like me.
And all of these emotions of mine keep holding me
From giving my life to a rainbow like you.
But I’m a yeah, I’m bold as love,
Yeah yeah.

Well, I’m bold, bold as love.
Hear me talkin’, girl.
I’m bold as love.
Just ask the Axis.
He knows everything. Yeah, yeah.

I could write for the rest of my life about this song and I wouldn’t be able to translate the feeling that it gives me.  This song spoke to me from the very first sound on the track.  I don’t know how to describe how much sense it makes to me.  It was so powerful it was like my world stopped.  For me, this song is about risks and confidence and learning from mistakes, but being able to see a bigger picture and appreciate the fact that we are just human.

Jimi, man, I feel ya…

Blessings.
