8 miles. Hills. 1 hour. About 30 minutes.
WOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!! I can’t believe I did that…all by myself, too! Our Saturday group run was cancelled because of the holiday weekend. I did such poor job of training this week, I really didn’t think I would make it. I ran the whole way too! I feel amazing. I don’t have an exact time because my watch stopped in around the hour, six minute minute mark, so I had to estimate. I left the house at 9 and got back at 10:32…
That’s another thing. I LEFT THE HOUSE AT 9AM! Holy Moly. Do you know how hot it has been at 9am? Thankfully, since it’s been so overcast and rainy, it was perfect running weather (besides the humidity).
I’m hoping to be back to my normal training routine next week. This week has been pretty crazy to say the least. I was so scared to resign, but this has turned out to be a blessing in disguise. All my friends and family have been so supportive. I sent out a mass email on Friday to let everyone know that my last day was July 9th and to give updated contact information. The response I got was incredible!!! People calling to ask what I was interested in, people passing along my resume to all their contacts, at least 3 interviews and more lunch invitations than I could imagine. At least I know I won’t go hungry! Really though, I was so touched by the response I got, I was brought to tears. I feel truly blessed to be able to take a risk like this and be able to appreciate the journey. A dear friend of mine likened it to taking a leap and waiting for the net to appear.
The other day, someone was making fun of my twelve minute mile. I know I’m slow, but if you aren’t training for a marathon in the middle of the Texas summer and you’re going to laugh at my lack of speed, well, SKA – RUEEEEEEEEEE YOU! I’d take determination over speed any day. That’s what will get me across the finish line after 26.2 miles, not sprinting.
Okay, that’s my little rant for the day. My favorite uncle Charlie is in town and we caught a frog inside my Mom’s house last night (it was so cute). I wish it would stop raining so we could hang out at the pool. I’m looking forward to a very fun weekend with family. Happy 4th of July!!!
Blessings!
