3 miles. 36 min. 42 sec.
Not the greatest time, but I didn’t walk one little bit. That brings me to my epiphany. If I start off slower than I have been, I will not have to walk. So simple! I’ve always been the type to have to learn things the hard way! I can’t just take someone’s word for it. I have to figure things out for myself. Just ask my parents…
I’ve mentioned before that I want this blog to accurately illustrate the trials and tribulations of running a marathon while getting my MBA and working for a Major League Baseball team that is having ownership issues. š Well, here is a warning: if you don’t want to know some gruesome details about the effects of marathon training on a body, stop reading now.
You’ve been warned.
Okay, this isn’t too bad, but I have an idea that it will get worse as my training continues. After I finished my 4 mile run 2 Saturdays ago, I came home and showered. As I was drying off, I noticed that I was missing some skin under my left breast.
I warned you…
I didn’t think much of it. It hurt, but I thought I just dried myself off too hard. In retrospect, that is ridiculous. How can someone dry themselves off that hard? Now, a little background for you:
Every Saturday I wear my favorite white sports bra under a sleeveless, Nike dri-fit shirt. I mean, every time I run I wear a sports bra under a sleeveless, Nike dri-fit shirt. It’s what I’m most comfortable in, but I save my favorite sports bras for the Saturday group runs. Why? I don’t know, I’m a girl. In retrospect, this doesn’t make too much sense either. Anyway, for my 6 mile run on Saturday, I put on old faithful (white sports bra) and my dri-fit. I run. I get home and take a shower. I dry off. Again, no skin under my left breast. People, there is some serious chafing going on. My favorite white sports bra has been retired. It’s a sad day, but I feel like a legitimate runner now. Mostly because of chafing but I’m also still high on that 6 miles. A 6 mile run isn’t for the kiddies!!! š
On another note; I can’t believe I ran tonight. I was in such a bad mood and soooooooo tired when I got home from work. I even took a nap! Thankfully, it was only 45 minutes and I woke up feeling like a new person. I was able to get my run in and now, as I type, I’m looking at a beautiful sunset! Life doesn’t get much better!
