As promised, I did NOT run today, but I did walk 3 miles. That, my friends, is called under-promise/over-deliver. I had a pretty little interesting walk, too. I was a quarter of the way into it and I saw a runner ahead, coming toward me. I had my headphones in and I was laughing out loud at the sports talk show that I was listening to. Just as I got my laughing under control, I looked up and the runner was right in front of me. To my surprise, he was trying to get my attention. My first thought was to be a little scared. I get so anxious when I’m running alone. You just never know…
Anyway, I took my headphones off and he began pointing behind him. Finally, he said, “I just wanted to let you know there’s a big snake up there. Be careful.”
Again, my first thought was to be a little scared. My second thought was, “Cool! I have to see this thing!”
Well, I kept on walking, but I was paying a lot more attention to my surroundings at this point. Unfortunately, or fortunately (not quite sure) I did not see that snake; however, at about the 2 mile point, I saw a baby snake that scared the daylights out of me. I guess I’m glad I didn’t see that big guy after all.
That’s what I really like about the trail I’m running/walking right now. There is a lot of nature to look at. The other day, I saw a beautiful hawk perched on branch. He was not too far off the path so I got a really good look at him. I even enjoy the huge, hairy caterpillars that scoot across the path as I run. They go so fast for such little creatures. It breaks my heart to see the plastic bags, cigarette butts, and other trash though. People!!! DON’T LITTER! Okay, that’s all for now.
Blessings.
