I officially started my marathon training today! I just ran 2 miles in 24.12. I’m actually okay with that since the last time I actually ran 1 mile was about 6 months ago. My first team run is on Saturday and I definitely didn’t want that to be my running debut.
The first mile was pleasant. Ever since I had my UPPPS surgery (don’t ask me what it stands for), I have really cherished the smells of outside. It’s about to start pouring rain and I could actually smell it. I could smell grass and flowers, too. I know that sounds so silly, but I truly didn’t have a clue what those things smelled like until I was 25 years old. It is something that I do not take for granted.
I have a feeling that my running will improve drastically over the next couple of weeks. I got back from a long weekend in Los Angeles with my brother and some dear friends. It’s safe to say that there weren’t any “group runs” or health food involved. In fact, it was pretty much a 4 day binge and I enjoyed every single second of it; however, I definitely paid for it today.
Tomorrow, I have another 2 miles to log and I’m hoping to come in under 24 minutes. I’ll check back and let you know how I do!
